There are many whites that feel we are more likely to be bombed by terrorists now that Barack is in office. Truthfully I feel it will be the opposite. This election was heavily watched by the world. Baracks’ victory excited people all over the world. Many people feel that this will be a different America in terms of how we do things and interact with other countries. Barack will not have this ‘John Wayne’ my way or the highway persona that has been in the White House. There will be dialogue and reasonable thinking I believe.
Now many Americans believe that this is weakness. Many Americans believe that you have to be forceful and have the ‘John Wayne’ way of doing things. That is what has gotten us in trouble and has given America a negative image in the first place. However many of these same people view of America as a country that innocently sits as other countries try to destroy us out of jealousy concerning what we have. Many Americans have no clue about the injustices America has inflicted on other countries, many much smaller than us.
I will not go into conspiracy theories in terms of 911 and why it happened. I am not condoning what the terrorists did at all. But for the most part a lot of people in America could not comprehend or believe that America could have done anything wrong prior to 911. There are so many things America has done that if all of it were exposed to the American public in its rawness many people would be stunned and unable to handle it. There are even things such as Saddam Hussein and his relationship with America. Many Americans were gung ho about getting Saddam. Many quickly forgot that America and Saddam were allies. They can now talk about the evil Saddam did but America gave Saddam what he needed to do those evil things. Then many never sat and thought, “Why are we going after him and not Bin Laden?” Many never thought that America could easily have gotten Bin Laden if they really wanted to. Many people do not really look at things or use common sense.
This whole thing about going over to Iraq and teaching them democracy and our ways of doing things is wrong. You can’t dictate to people and tell them “You will worship our GOD.” Though I am a Christian and do not follow Iraq’s faith I do not agree in forcing our faith on anyone. Not only that many of the evils done to other countries by America are done in the name of GOD/JESUS so those people are not trying to hear that. Again JESUS said in Matthew if one does not want to hear shake the dust off of your feet and move one. He never said to force or aggressively convert. JESUS stands at the door and knocks. HE does not stand at the door with a battering ram and Uzi trying to get into your heart. HE does consistently knock over periods of time but he comes as a gentleman. Many people here in America that witness think GOD is going to give them extra spiritual brownie points of they have Bible wars with people and try to force JESUS on folk. Is if we are showing GOD how passionate we are about HIM. That is so far from the truth. Then on the other hand if you do not come aggressive enough some accuse you of having no passion and pride of JESUS. But you may be using wisdom in how to deal with people, something that your accusers may still need to learn.
After 911 fear was put in people’s hearts and the whole 911 thing was used to manipulate people and get them to go along with a lot of the government’s decisions. So now Barack is in office and America fears we are open for all kinds of attacks. Many feel that an inexperienced black man in charge is bad for our country.
For starters, blacks and people of color are viewed differently in the eyes of other countries. Blacks and people of color are not viewed as the ones who orchestrate the evil things that America has done to other countries. Many know we do not own much of anything in America.
I see relations with other countries as heading towards positive. People think Barack is just going to hand over the keys when it comes to dealing with other countries and I do not see that. He will be level headed, responsible and reasonable.
The timing and season plays a big part as far as why Barack won. There were a lot of things happening that helped make this change and win more acceptable and welcome for people. There was a time we were saying that a black man would not be president any time soon. Many believed it would eventually happen but maybe in our kid’s lifetime. But a lot had to happen to ease people into it. Look at the last 8 years. A lot of times in the midst of it all many wondered what was going on. We were in prayer for the country and knew it was going in a messed up direction. When Barack came the last 8 years helped to prepare for this day. To change a mindset or bring something better you sometimes have to bring people down low and the last 8 years was definitely a major LOW.
You look in the Bible and many times before something great happened to either a person or a people, they have to be brought down or in a situation that is down in the valley. Prime examples of a person or people brought down or in a valley experience before hope came, the story of Job and the story of the Israelites. Here in America you had the economy crisis, people losing homes, lay offs, people losing jobs they had for over a decade, people with no health insurance, troops dying daily for no reason, more troops being sent to die for no reason, people being beheaded on video at an alarming rate, schools pushing out prayer, it got crazy. It got so low that by the time Barack came many wanted a change, no more of the same old and Barack’s color was irrelevant to many at that point. The color was no long black or white but it was green. They wanted the change he talked about and his branding / campaign strategy was excellent. He focused on the youth and they voted in record numbers. If you double McCain’s final numbers they still did not add up to Barack’s numbers. The country spoke and made their voice heard in terms of how they felt. Many youth renewed their trust in the voting system which has been questioned the last 8 years. Many youth who never voted based on the last 8 years decided for the first time to try and trust the voting system. Barack did not even spend much time campaigning down South. He focused on people and their issues, not the tabloid, hate tactics going on the McCain’s camp.
Basically, though there have been many casualties along the way, the lost homes, jobs and most importantly the lost lives, the last 8 years is starting to make a little more sense to me when I look at today. The country was turning away from GOD in many ways. Minister Wright talked about it though only one clip from the sermon was played over and over. The country was taking prayer out of schools, pushing gay marriage and pushing an unnecessary war for the gain of a select group of people in government.
So many may ask, “Well, Barack advocated abortion and gay marriage, what’s up with that?’
